CNN Promotes Clarissa Ward to Chief International Correspondent

By A.J. Katz

It’s been a day full of promotions over at CNN. Clarissa Ward, who joined CNN in 2015 after a stint at CBS News, was named the network’s chief international correspondent today. Ward replaces Christiane Amanpour, who was recently promoted to chief international anchor by CNN worldwide president Jeff Zucker.

Ward was most recently senior international correspondent, and like her colleague Brianna Keilar, who also received a promotion today, she is presently on maternity leave. She gave birth to Ezra Albrecht Nikolas Nour von Bernstorff (good luck saying that name 10 times fast!)

An award-winning journalist, Ward has reported from war zones in locations like Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Afghanistan and Ukraine over her career.
