CNN Graphic Mistakenly Describes Synagogue Attack Target as ‘Mosque’

Early Tuesday morning, CNN mistakenly described the overnight attack on a synogogue in Jerusalem as a “deadly attack on a Jerusalem mosque.” The on-screen error was left up through an interview with Jerusalem mayor Nir Barkat, but later corrected.

The mistake was made during CNN International coverage, which airs on sister network CNN from 1-4 a.m. ET.

“CNN made a mistake in its caption of where the terrorist attack took place,” a spokesperson explains. “It was pulled as soon as we recognized it, and we regret the error.”
