CNN Center Employees Evacuate Overnight

CNNCenterCNN Center in Atlanta was evacuated overnight prompting CNN International to stop normal programming for about 40 minutes. CNN tells us a fire alarm in the building required staff to evacuate as a precaution. But no fire was detected in the massive complex that also houses a hotel and a large atrium food court.

At 3:46am CNNI programming switched to a simulcast of CNN/U.S., a reair of “Piers Morgan Live” and “AC360.” The CNNI control room in Atlanta came back online about a half hour later and CNNI returned to normal programming at 4:23amET with an abbreviated edition of “World Business Today.” “We apologize for technical difficulties that affected our earlier programming,” said anchor Nina Dos Santos from London “We’re glad to be back now.”
