CNN Worldwide president Jeff Zucker is well aware that Jon Stewart is about to be a free agent. And he doesn’t rule out the “fake” newser joining CNN.
“Sure. If he wants to come, we’d like to talk to him,” Zucker told a room of reporters at a lunch to promote Bill Weir‘s new show. “I tried to hire Jon Stewart to basically bring ‘The Daily Show’ to NBC.”
Zucker, who used to be the President and CEO of NBCUniversal, went on to say “I’m a huge admirer of what Jon Stewart does.” While the CNN boss would obviously love to bring Stewart on board, he admits it probably isn’t happening anytime soon.
“I don’t think it’s in the cards, but if you’re asking if there would be room for it, the answer is yes. Is it likely to happen? I don’t really think so. We’d love to have that conversation,” Zucker said.
