CNN Assists With Time’s Great Reveal

CNN’s “special presentation” hour-long promotion for Time’s Person of the Year culminated at 8:56pm on Saturday with triumphant music and a badly-acted reveal of the “You” cover.

“Time’s 2006 Person of the Year is” [dramatic pause] “you,” Richard Stengel said, prompting Soledad O’Brien to ask: “Literally me?”

“Yes, you, me, everyone. Everyone who has transforming the information age by creating and consuming content,” Stengel explained.

The show was interactive. B&C notes that CNN used “technology from Tandberg Television to provide an interactive experience.” It used both TV and PC screens to “feature facts, trivia, polls and a recap of the year’s most important people and events.”

The special is airing a total of eight times this weekend…
