CNBC’s Squawk Box Kicks Off 20th Anniversary Celebration

CNBC’s Squawk Box kicked off its 20th Anniversary celebration today.

“This show has evolved many times over the last 20 years — we took the prompter away from the anchors, we created the role of a guest host, we were the first to broadcast live from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange,” Squawk Box senior ep Matt Quayle told TVNewser.

Throughout the Fall, Squawk Box will feature a series of topical round tables “Conversations for the next 20 years” with the first being two billionaires, hedge fund legend Leon Cooperman and buy-and-hold specialist Mario Gabelli.

“We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate that tradition than by ripping up the typical TV playbook once again. In an era of soundbites, we’re going to raise the level of discourse by bringing the best of the best together into round table conversations. Joe, Becky and Andrew will give our viewers access to world-class discussions that they could get nowhere else,” Quayle said.

CBS CEO Les Moonves, CEO of Discovery Communications David Zaslav, former Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke, value stock investor Bill Miller management guru Jack Welch and Under Armour founder Kevin Plank are also scheduled to appear in round table discussion.
