A memo to CNBC staffers from David Friend this afternoon: “I am pleased to announce the appointment of Glen Rochkind to Vice President, Business News. Reporting directly to me, Glen will be responsible for setting the editorial agenda for our Business Day coverage. Soon, we will name a managing editor as well as four executive producers that will oversee various blocks of Business Day programming; each will report directly to Glen.”
A CNBC rep tells TVNewser that the four EPs are new additions to the newsroom who will oversee, not replace, the current Business Day programmers. Rochkind left CNBC last fall for BusinessWeek Television, but was apparently wooed back. He has spent more than 23 years in the NBC family. Read the rest of David Friend’s memo after the jump…
“This announcement marks the return of both a valued former colleague and friend. As many of you know, Glen left us last Fall for BusinessWeek Television. In his short time there, he was responsible for redesigning and re-launching their noted “Money Talks” syndicated program.
Glen is a seasoned television veteran who has spent more than 23 years with NBC. He began his career working as a production assistant for former “NBC Nightly News” co-anchor Roger Mudd. Over his 15 years with CNBC, Glen held many positions including London Bureau Chief, Washington Bureau Chief and, most recently, as Deputy Managing Editor and Executive Producer. Glen was fundamental in helping to build CNBC Business News and was one of the main talents behind our acclaimed and award-winning long form documentaries. He also helped to create many of our most acclaimed and highest rated programming, including our ground-breaking series on Saudi Prince Alaweed, coverage of The Business Council and G-7 meetings as well as our exclusive coverage of the World Economic Summit when it came to NY.
