CNBC Drops ‘World Business’ After Questions Raised Over Production Company

By Alex Weprin

CNBC was dropped one of its international programs, “World Business,” after questions were raised about the relationship between the production company that produces it, and some of the politicians it may end up covering.

In a nutshell, FBC Media, which produces “World Business,” also doubles as a strategic communications firm, and one of its clients is a politician from Borneo.

Politico’s Keach Hagey has the details:

“In light of serious questions raised last week, CNBC immediately initiative an examination of FBC and its business practices and has withdrawn the program ‘World Business’ indefinitely,” Brian Steel, senior vice president of media relations at CNBC, told POLITICO.

FBC Media also says it produced shows for CNN and the BBC, though a spokesperson for CNN says the only content produced by FBC was advertorial, and labeled as such.
