Clarissa Ward Honored by International Center for Journalists

By A.J. Katz

CNN’s senior international correspondent Clarissa Ward will receive the Excellence in International Reporting Award from the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ). “I am thrilled and humbled to accept this honor from such an exceptional institution as the ICFJ,” Ward says. “For decades, it has been doing brave and invaluable work, giving journalists across the world the tools they need to tell their stories.”

The nonprofit selected Ward for her commitment to war coverage in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Ukraine and Afghanistan, areas she’s reported from over the last dozen years. She will receive the award at ICFJ’s annual awards ceremony on Nov. 14 in Washington, D.C. Wolf Blitzer will emcee the gala, which will also honor Charlie Rose.

Ward, who was profiled in Women’s Wear Daily this week, recently returned from an undercover assignment to rebel-held areas in Syria to report on what life is like under the bombs.
