It’s official: Sam Champion is the new weather anchor for Good Morning America. In addition to sharing the forecast, Champion will “contribute feature reports on the environment and weather-related issues” to GMA. He starts on Sept. 5, the same day as Chris Cuomo.
Champion is also becoming weather editor for ABC News.
“As I leave WABC-TV, my home for the last 18 years, I want to thank my wonderful colleagues and all the viewers in New York who put their trust in me, day after day, to make sure they were prepared for whatever the weather might hold,” Champion says. “I couldn’t be more excited to join Diane, Robin, Chris and the amazing staff at ‘GMA.'”
