Cecilia will be based in Los Angeles as a correspondent reporting for all platforms.

She joins us from KGO in San Francisco where she was an on-air reporter for three years. An award winning journalist, Cecilia earned an Emmy in 2010 for her exclusive interview with a witness to a brutal attack on a high school girl at her homecoming dance.

Before transitioning to broadcast news, Cecilia made her mark as a reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle, breaking numerous stories about Mayor Gavin Newsom’s administration. Cecilia spent many days chasing the mayor down the corridors of City Hall to get answers – most notably about his affair with his campaign manager’s wife.

Her reporting earned her distinguished awards from the California Newspaper Publishers Association, the East Bay Press Club, and the Hearst Corporation.

A talented writer, broadcaster, and journalist, Cecilia will be a great addition to the ABC News family.

She will visit our New York offices in October. Please join me in welcoming Cecilia to ABC News.
