CBS Sunday Morning Has Most-Watched Quarter in 29 Years

By Chris Ariens

CBS Sunday Morning with Charles Osgood had its most-watched quarter since the 1987 advent of people meters.

Sunday Morning, which launched on CBS in 1979, averaged 6.36 million total viewers and a 1.4 rating / 7 share in the A5-54 demo. That’s up +2 percent in viewers compared to Q1 2015. This has been an era of consistent growth for the 90-minute Sunday news program. Its full 2014-2015 TV season, which came to an end in September, was its most-watched also since 1987. The show has posted viewer gains in each first quarter since 2009.

CBS Sunday Morning has also delivered more than six million viewers for the last three first quarters, which continues to out-rank all the weekday morning shows which all average fewer than 5 million viewers each week.
