CBS News Names New Coordinating Producer for Its Political Unit

CBS News’ D.C. bureau has made its fourth staffing move in less than a week.

The bureau has named Katie Ross Dominick coordinating producer for the network’s political unit.

“Katie’s sound news judgment, even-keeled temperament, and eye for detail and organization will be a huge asset to our political coverage as we continue to tell the story of the midterm elections and look beyond to what will surely be an unpredictable and fast-paced 2020 presidential campaign season,” CBS News political director Caitlin Conant said in a statement.

Dominick is no stranger to the CBS News team, most recently working on the justice beat with Jeff Pegues and Paula Reid, among others.

Prior to that, Dominick worked on CBS News’ transportation beat, and was a Washington-based producer for CBS This Morning.

Additionally, Brian Gottlieb has been named supervising producer for CBS Evening News in DC. Gottlieb joined CBS News in 2013 as Margaret Brennan’s producer at the State Department. In that role, he traveled the world covering tensions with North Korea, the Iran nuclear deal negotiations, and other foreign policy hotspots. Since 2017, he has been the White House producer for CBS This Morning, helping to keep that broadcast and the bureau on top of the non-stop news from the Trump administration. Before CBS, Brian was a producer at the BBC and the PBS NewsHour covering politics.

As mentioned, it’s been a notable week on the staffing front for CBS News. In addition to Dominick and Gottlieb, the network announced last week that veteran TV news producer Fin Gomez is joining CBS News as a producer in the White House unit after a 13-year stint at Fox News.

CBSNews.com‘s politics reporter Katie Watson was named White House reporter for the website.
