Some job news concerning Enrique Acevedo: The bilingual journalist has been named anchor for En Punto, Mexico’s most-watched evening newscast, airing on Televisa. He joins En Punto in January. Additionally, CBS News announced this evening that Acevedo will remain at the network as a Mexico City-based contributor.
“Enrique has been a valuable addition to our team since he first joined CBS News in 2020, and we know he will continue to do excellent work from his new post,” CBS News newsgathering chief Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews said in a note to staff.
Over the last few years, Acevedo has reported on the U.S. troop withdrawal from Afghanistan; the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic at the U.S.-Mexico border; efforts to rebuild Louisiana’s coastline after a record-breaking hurricane season; the deadly working conditions faced by an elite group of wildland firefighters known as smokejumpers; profiled music superstar J Balvin; and USAID Administrator Samantha Power. Most recently, Acevedo reported on allegations of false and misleading information targeting Latinos on Spanish-language radio for CBS Mornings.
Acevedo joined CBS News at the start of 2020 as a correspondent for the short-lived 60 Minutes program on Quibi, 60 In 6. He also spent a decade at Univision anchoring the network’s late-night newscast Noticiero Univision Edición Nocturna. Acevedo joined Univision in 2012 after a brief stint at Telemundo and before that served as an anchor and special correspondent for his other current employer Televisa (pre-Univision merger).
