CBS News Investigation Results in Firing of Wounded Warrior Project CEO, COO

By Chris Ariens

CBS’s Scott Pelley broke in with a network special at 5:22 p.m. ET to report that the board of the Wounded Warrior Project had fired the CEO and the COO. The firing was the result of internal strife at one of the nation’s largest veterans’ charities following a CBS News investigation by Chip Reid. Reid, who also took part in the special report, revealed that Wounded Warrior Project spent between 54 and 60 percent of what it brought in on the veterans themselves. Other organizations CBS looked into spent more than 90 percent on veterans.
