CBS News Beefs Up Medical Reporting

By Brian

CBS News is adding a medical correspondent to the CBS Evening News and partnering with WebMD in an effort to “expand its medical and health coverage.”

Jonathan LaPook, M.D., a practicing physician, is joining the net, effective immediately. “Watching his work on the ‘Today’ show and having spent time with him discussing how medical and health news can be better presented on television, there is no doubt in my mind that Dr. LaPook will be a great addition to CBS News,” Sean McManus said in a press release.

WebMD and CBSNews.com already have a partnership, and today’s deal expands it, “by giving readers [and viewers] more daily content from WebMD, in addition to interactive tools for diagnosis and healthy living.”

> Also: In the release, McManus referenced Katie Couric‘s “well known commitment to medical reporting…”
