The Philadelphia Inquirer: “CBS Evening News will be No. 2 in the ratings by the end of February, lame-duck executive producer Jim Murphy boldly predicts.”
Murphy says: “If they stick to the broadcast the way it is, it will happen. People like the program, they like Bob [interim anchor Bob Schieffer], and they’re doing it right.”
More: “I knew this broadcast would work out. I stuck to my guns about staying with the plan laid down months ago, despite a lot of pressure to keep changing things.”
Is Murphy saying this now because he’s concerned about the changes that may be implemented when Rome Hartman takes over on Jan. 9?…
