ABC, NBC and CBS' evening newscasts were down in viewership this past week vs. what each drew during the comparable week in 2017.

World News Tonight finished No. 1 in total viewers, and posted year-over-year audience growth. However, Nightly News remained the go-to among adults 25-54, winning the demo for the 18th straight week.

NBC Nightly News finished No. 1 across all measurements last week, but all three evening newscasts were down vs. the comparable Thanksgiving holiday-shortened week in 2017.

In the evenings, ABC posted its 9th straight sweeps victory in total viewers, the longest stretch of sweep wins in 22 years. NBC ranked No. 1 among A25-54 for the 14th consecutive sweeps period, and posted year-over-year growth.

ABC and NBC posted year-over-year audience growth, not only among total viewers but also among adults 25-54.

The evening newscasts posted larger-than-normal audiences last week, with events that included the mid-terms on Tuesday, and coverage of the California wildfires at the end of the week.

An average of 22.4 million Americans watched the evening news last week. That's only -2 percent vs. the comparable week in 2017.

NBC Nightly News was the only evening newscast to grow year over year in total viewers. ABC World News Tonight was the only one to grow in A25-54. Ironically, each finished No. 2 in those respective categories.

NBC Nightly News was the No. 1 evening newscast in the A25-54 demo for the 12th consecutive week, and the sole newscast to post growth in total viewers vs. the same week in 2017 (+1 percent).

ABC, NBC and CBS sent their respective evening news anchors to the Florida panhandle to cover Hurricane Michael, a deadly Category 4 storm.
