Campbell Brown’s A.M. Future

By Brian

Following up on this speculation about Campbell Brown‘s future, perhaps at ABC or CBS:

“I think Campbell’s best fit would be at CBS,” an e-mailer says. “She could sub for Katie, or anchor ’48 Hours’ in addition to ‘The Early Show.’ Her youth, young marriage, potential to have children in the midst of her tenure, combined with the uncle/dad-like qualities of Harry Smith, the zaniness of Dave Price, and perhaps Julie Chen and/or Rene Syler as the newsreader might work. And I bet a bunch of affiliates that don’t currently carry ‘Early Show’ in full would if Campbell were co-host.”

> Update: 4:40pm: If she moves to CBS, she’ll “continue to be in Katie’s shadow,” an e-mailer responds. “I think she wants her own identity…hence GMA and ABC News.”

> Update: 4:44pm: “While I don’t have any better ideas, CBS seems like a dead end for Campbell Brown,” another person responds. “The network is lacking luster. She’d be a lively addition at GMA. Kate Snow is cute and sweet, but I have a hard time imagining her as the new Diane Sawyer. Brown, on the other hand, has the needed spunk and spirit, and I see her as an intellectual…”
