Campbell Brown Asks Hillary Clinton About the Gender Card

By Chris Ariens

CNN newcomer Campbell Brown went “there” tonight with Sen. Hillary Clinton. Brown’s former boss at NBC Tim Russert got a significant amount of heat from Clinton supporters after last month’s debate. Some thought Russert was “unfairly” targeting Clinton.

Well, tonight Brown asked Sen. Clinton if her supporters, including her husband, have been “exploiting gender as a political issue during this campaign.” Sen. Clinton responded with:

“I’m not playing, as some people say, the gender card here in Las Vegas, I’m just trying to play the winning card. I understand very well that people are not attacking me because I’m a woman. They’re attacking me because I’m ahead….as Harry Truman famously said, if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. I feel very comfortable in the kitchen and I’m going to withstand the heat.”
