Governor Chris Christie Meets the Press, Again

The news channels carried New Jersey Governor Chris Christie‘s news conference this afternoon, in which the Governor discussed his office’s internal investigation that found he had nothing to do with the George Washington Bridge lane closures last September.

During the press conference, which started at 2:31pmET and lasted for a little more than an hour, Christie announced the resignation of Port Authority chief and close ally David Samson. Christie also called for splitting the New York-based Port Authority into two separate locations in New York and New Jersey.

CNN was the first to cut out of the press conference, carrying it for 26 minutes before turning to a quick reaction segment with Gloria Borger and Dana Bash, then moving back to coverage Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. Fox News Channel carried 52 minutes of the newser, until 3:23pmET, at which point Shepard Smith turned to correspondent David Lee Miller, reporting from the New Jersey State House. MSNBC carried the Governor’s entire news conference. Christie held a two hour news conference on January 9 on the issue.

Shortly before the news conference, Christie sat down for an interview with Fox News Channel’s Megyn Kelly which will air tonight on her show at 9pmET.
