The 2010 Cable Show kicks off today in sunny Los Angeles, California.
While there probably won’t be quite as many TV news personalities as the 2009 show in Washington DC, the cable news channels each have a presence at the cable industry’s annual confab.
MSNBC is sending Chris Matthews, Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough to the show this year. Matthews will be making an appearance at the NBC Universal booth at 4 p.m. PT, and will MC the annual Cable Hall of Fame dinner tonight. Wednesday night NBCU is throwing a party at Universal Studios, and all three will be in attendance. Cable execs and guests will be able to sit down at the “MSNBC Dining Room Table” where they can chat with Chris, Joe and Mika.
Mad Money with Jim Cramer will televise from the show floor Wednesday from 6-7 p.m. ET, while CNBC’s Tyler Mathisen will be moderating a panel Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. PT on the future of creating cable content. Panelists will be Viacom’s Philippe Dauman, Discovery’s David Zaslav, Patrick Esser from Cox, Keith Lee of Booyah and Kevin Tsujihara from Warner Bros.
Liz Claman will be representing Fox Business at the show. Claman will host her 3 p.m. ET program Countdown to the Closing Bell on the show floor, and will interview guests from media companies like Viacom, Univision, Crown, Rainbow and Showtime. Thursday at 9 a.m. PT she will be moderating a panel on new media, with panelists Matt Blank of Showtime, Ari Emanuel of William Morris Endeavopr, Tom Rogers of Tivo, Thomas Rutledge from Cablevision and Twitter’s Ev Williams.
While she was in LA, Claman also threw out the first pitch at a Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim game (video after the jump), and got her caricature unveiled at The Palm steakhouse.
