Cable Network Ranker: Q3 2012

The cable network ranker for Q3 reflects what we saw yesterday in the quarterly ratings.

Fox News Channel ranked third in primetime, behind USA and TNT, and fifth in total day behind Nickelodeon, Adult Swim, Cartoon Network and USA. FNC averaged 2.00 million viewers in primetime and 1.15 million viewers in total day. MSNBC ranked 19th in primetime and 23rd in total day, averaging 935,000 and 515,000 viewers, respectively. CNN was 32nd in both primetime and total day, averaging 616,000 and 388,000 viewers, respectively.

HLN was 42nd in both primetime and total day, averaging 311,000 and 238,000 viewers, respectively. Current TV was 93rd in primetime and 92nd in total day, averaging 37,000 and 28,000 viewers.

As for the business nets: CNBC led the way, placing 55th in both primetime and total day. CNBC averaged 188,000 and 146,000 viewers, respectively. Fox Business was 86th in primetime and 82nd in total day, averaging 70,000 and 55,000 viewers, respectively. Bloomberg TV is not rated by Nielsen, and hasn’t been since it launched in 1994.
