“Broadcasting Pioneer” Frank Stanton, President Of CBS For 26 Years, Dies At 98

“Frank Stanton, a broadcasting pioneer and CBS president for 26 years who helped build its TV operation into the ‘Tiffany network,’ has died at the age of 98,” the AP reports.

CBSNews.com says “Stanton was known as the ‘conscience of broadcasting’ for his battles for first amendment rights and the unwavering support of the journalists who worked for him.”

Don Hewitt said “he was very courageous and he was principled and he never let us down.”
