Broadcasters Plan Coverage Of Obama Shooting Statement

By Alex Weprin

At around 11:45 AM, president Obama is scheduled to make a statement to the press announcing that Vice President Biden will be leading the administration’s response to the tragic shooting in Newtown, CT last Friday. He is also expected to outline some basic measures to ensure that it does not happen again.

Obama will make the statement from the James Brady briefing room, which is named after Ronald Reagan’s press secretary James Brady, who was paralyzed after being shot during an assassination attempt on the former President.

The “big three” broadcast networks will all be breaking into regular programming to cover the statement live.
