Broadcast and Cable News Outlets Decide to Carry the Democratic Party Response to Pres. Trump’s Prime-Time Address

By A.J. Katz

Determined to keep it balanced, the broadcast and cable networks announced that they are carrying a Democratic Party response to President Trump’s prime-time address from the Oval Office on border security and the government shutdown.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) will give the address together.

PBS NewsHour was the first broadcaster (that we know of) to announce that it would carry the response, doing so last night. CNN and MSNBC also remarked that they would carry any response from the Democrats.

ABC’s David Muir will anchor a special live West Coast edition of ABC World News Tonight after the speech at approximately 9:30 p.m. ET.

CBS’ Elaine Quijano will anchor CBSN’s special coverage starting at 8:30 p.m., ET. The 24/7 streaming news service will simulcast the CBS special report, and will continue with live analysis and reactions from CBS News reporters and guests at 9:30 p.m. ET.
