Brit Hume: ‘I Count Greta as a Friend and I’m Sorry to See Her Go’

By Mark Joyella

Anchoring Fox News Channel’s On the Record tonight, Brit Hume ended the 7 p.m. ET hour with a short message to viewers about Greta Van Susteren, whose departure from the network was announced earlier in the day. “I count Greta as a friend and I’m sorry to see her go,” Hume said. “All of us certainly wish her well. She made a big contribution and we will miss her.”

In announcing Van Susteren’s departure, Fox News named Hume the new 7 p.m. host, but only through the end of the 2016 election. “I’ll try to carry on in the hopes her audience will stick with us,” Hume said. “Don’t worry, I’ll only be here through the election.”

Hume also shared part of a statement Van Susteren published on her Facebook page, saying that to her, Fox News “didn’t feel like home anymore.”
