Brian Steel Leaving CNBC

By Chris Ariens

Brian Steel, who has been CNBC’s vp of PR for the last eight years, is leaving the network. In a note to staff, obtained by TVNewser, CNBC president Mark Hoffman says Steel “is leaving to take on a challenging new position that will be announced in the coming days.” TVNewser hears it is outside the media realm.

“Brian has been a stalwart champion of the CNBC brand, a critical thought partner for many and the life of every party,” Hoffman writes. “I thank him for his commitment and contributions, both professional and personal, and wish him success as he takes the next big step in his career.”

Steel joined CNBC in 2007 from Citigroup. Before that he held multiple positions with the U.S Department of Justice. Steel’s last day at CNBC is Friday, Sept. 11.
