Bret Baier to Host Sunday Night Election-Focused Show This Fall

As interest in this presidential campaign season continues to catch fire, Fox News has made the decision to expand its live news programming slate in prime time. The network confirmed to TVNewser this morning that its chief political anchor, Bret Baier, will host another edition of his Special Report series this fall. The election-focused program will air Sundays at 8 p.m. ET, starting September 11th and running through November 6th, which is two days before Election Day.

Fox News isn’t the only cable news network expanding its live news programming. MSNBC recently made a similar move, with Brian Williams anchoring a half-hour politics-focused program in the 11 p.m. ET hour, which will also run through Election Day.

The decision to add Baier to Sunday prime time makes sense for the network. Not only has Fox News’ election coverage delivered huge ratings this year, (and will likely continue to do so) but the network also garnered some success on Sundays at 8 p.m. this summer with its original series Legends & Lies. The original edition of Special Report will continue to air weeknights at 6 p.m.
