Boise State-Virginia Tech Breaks Ratings Record

The overnight ratings from Tuesday showed Boise State-Virginia Tech on ESPN was a nationwide hit with sports fans.

Now comes word that the Labor Day telecast averaged 7,252,000 households, making it the most-watched college football game covering regular-season and bowl games in ESPN history.

In terms of most viewers all-time, Boise State-Virginia Tech(9,888,000) trails only USC-Ohio State (10,586,000) from 2009.

In addition, the telecast was the most-viewed program on Monday across cable and broadcast networks.

Care to take a guess which city drew the highest rating?

No, it wasn’t Boise, Idaho.

Birmingham, Ala. pulled a rating of 23.7, followed by Richmond, Va. (16.5), and Norfolk, Va. (15.7)

Looks like Tide fans are already scouting the competition for a possible Tostitos BCS National Championship showdown in January.
