Bob Schieffer Still “Doesn’t Know What They’re Going To Do” About Anchor

A funny thing happened since Bob Schieffer succeeded Dan Rather, the Boston Globe says. Schieffer’s “relaxed style, and his habit of conversing with correspondents about their stories on the air, began generating boffo reviews.” So will he become a more permanent anchor?

”I don’t know what they’re going to do,” Schieffer says. “I don’t think people know what they have in mind…I have told them this: I’m going to retire at age 70…I would like to leave the stage out there, while there are a few people applauding.”
