Bob Furnad On Dog Poop Prank: ‘There is no fool like an old fool’

By Alex Weprin

You may recall that last week, news broke that former CNN executive Bob Furnad was busted by his neighbors placing dog poop in their mailbox. As it turns out, he was out of the country when the news broke, but now he is back, and responded to the news by posting a message to friends on Facebook. One of them forwarded the message to TVNewser.

In it, he acknowledges that he pulled the prank, and explains why.

The two gentlemen, who own the large home and property near by, were social friends for a few years. We stopped getting together with them when they started spreading malicious rumors about friends and family. I have been told they said, among other things, that I had misused funds from FaithWorks (the charity we started in 2005 to help the underprivileged). I ignored it until recently when they told new friends to, “Watch out for Furnad.” I walk our dog, Sonny, almost daily past their residence and decided on that particular day to pull a prank I thought appropriate for those two. As you know, it backfired.

To my Facebook friends,

We have been out of the country since 5/16 and so have not responded to
the dog-feces-in-the-mailbox coverage. I am very embarrassed, needless to say, and am sorry you have had to read/see this.

My dad used to say, “There is no fool like an old fool.”
