Bob Beckel Thanks Roger Ailes: ‘A Good Friend’

By Mark Joyella

Bob Beckel, whose departure from Fox News and The Five was made public this week, with a sharply-worded statement from the network that said ““We tried to work with Bob for months, but we couldn’t hold The Five hostage to one man’s personal issues. He took tremendous advantage of our generosity, empathy and goodwill and we simply came to the end of the road with him.”

At the time, Beckel expressed that he was “baffled” by the statement. Now, he’s made clear he has nothing but admiration for Fox News boss Roger Ailes, calling him a “loyal and good friend.”

In describing Ailes as a loyal friend who remained close in tough times, Beckel echoes Fox News anchor Gregg Jarrett, who recently told TVNewser he thinks Ailes saved his life.
