Biz Network Ratings Jump Amid Black Monday Coverage

Ratings for Fox Business Network and CNBC jumped Monday, amid coverage of the 1,000-point drop in the Dow Monday morning.

FBN’s Varney and Company set a network record between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. ET, with 230,000 total viewers and 54,000 viewers in the demo. The 9 a.m. hour was the network’s highest rated hour of the day (225,000 total viewers) as the markets opened and stocks began to slide.

CNBC had its highest business day of the year, with 415,000 total viewers and 117,000 viewers in the demo.

CNBC will air a one-hour live special at 7 p.m. ET, “CNBC Special Report: Markets in Turmoil,” tonight, anchored by Kelly Evans.
