Bill O’Reilly Will Bring Kate Steinle’s Parents to Washington

In an interview set to air tonight on Fox News Channel’s The O’Reilly Factor, host Bill O’Reilly tells the parents of Kate Steinle he wants to bring them to Washington to meet with legislators when they return to Congress from the summer break.

“I think when they come back we’ll get you both to Washington to talk to them face to face, maybe to testify in front of some committees there and so you can have input. And then we’ll report every step of the way,” O’Reilly told James Steinle and Liz Sullivan, whose daughter was shot and killed by a man in the country illegally.

“Because I think you’re absolutely right that this law is named after your daughter and you should have input into it. So we’re going to make that happen for you. It’ll be at our expense. And we’ll fly you into Washington and we’ll set up the meetings for you. Would that be OK for you guys to do?”

Both parents said it would be an honor, and that “Kate would be proud.”

In another part of the interview, airing at 8 p.m. ET, James Steinle describes his daughter’s death:

BILL O’REILLY: “What did she say before she went down?”

JAMES STEINLE: “Help me, dad.”

BILL O’REILLY: “And you had no idea what was happening at that point.”

JAMES STEINLE: “None whatsoever. We heard a pop and shortly after that Kate went down. And then — we had some kind souls come over, you know, gave her mouth to mouth and did all they could. And some other kind souls come over and helped us until the paramedics got there.”
