Bill O’Reilly: ‘I Want to Stop This Now’

By Chris Ariens

Bill O’Reilly the Fox News host is done talking about Bill O’Reilly the 32-year-old CBS News correspondent. “I want to stop this now,” O’Reilly said at the end of a segment on his show Monday night. “I hope we can stop it. I really do.”

What O’Reilly wants stopped, is the discussion about how he has characterized his coverage during the Falklands War in 1982, and other foreign reporting. But that desire to put the matter behind him, got a little more complicated after O’Reilly conducted an interview with New York Times reporter Emily Steel. Tonight, Steel tweeted:

On his show Monday, O’Reilly had hoped to talk with either Dan Rather, then the anchor of the CBS Evening News or with Van Gordon Sauter, then the president of CBS News, or both, about his contributions from Argentina. Both declined. Instead, he interviewed Don Browne, a former NBC News executive, who ran the Miami Bureau at the time of the Falklands War.
