Bill O’Reilly: ‘Hard to Fathom’ Colbert Attracting Conservatives on ‘Late Show’

By Jordan Chariton

O'Reilly ColbertWhile wrapping up the “O’Reilly Factor” last night, Bill O’Reilly chimed in on Stephen Colbert’s ascension to succeeding David Letterman as “Late Show” host when Letterman retires next year.

Calling Colbert an “interesting” choice by CBS, O’Reilly said he finds it “hard to fathom that 40% of Americans who describe themselves as conservatives will watch Colbert,” adding Colbert will have good writers to go up against “high-energy guys” like Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon.

O’Reilly’s prediction on Colbert was certainly more tame than his recent comments on the satirist, who he called a “deceiver” and “one of the biggest mouthpieces for the progressive movement.” O’Reilly’s more critical comments came in response to Colbert mocking him over suggesting President Obama was hurting himself by focusing on equality.

Let the countdown begin to O’Reilly’s first potential appearance on Colbert’s “Late Show,” where Colbert will no longer be playing the faux conservative character that’s won him acclaim.
