Bill O’Reilly calls for Media Matters’ Tax Exempt Status to be Revoked

By Chris Ariens

Bill O’Reilly took up the issue of Media Matters having tax exempt status because, as other tax exempt organizations, “it educates the public.” O’Reilly calls the group a “vicious, far left website.” “Media Matters is in business to hurt the Fox News Channel,” O’Reilly says.

C. Boyden Gray, who was George H.W. Bush‘s White House Counsel and wrote about this in the Washington Times, was O’Reilly’s guest. His advice: someone should file an application with the IRS to revoke the status. “I don’t think it should be Fox, but someone should,” said Gray, “and I suspect after these stories have been run, someone will.”

TVNewser reached out to Media Matters, but they are not commenting on the issue. The organization has been tax exempt since its founding in May 2004.
