Bill Hemmer Speaks to Future Journalists at School Attended By David Bloom’s Daughters

By Chris Ariens

Fox News Channel anchor Bill Hemmer stopped by the Convent of the Sacred Heart, a K – 12 Catholic girls school in Greenwich, CT Thursday. Hemmer spoke to the school’s broadcast journalism students telling them about his life in television and what the future journalists can do to pursue their own paths. Sacred Heart School is no stranger to the TV news family. The late NBC News anchor David Bloom’s daughters are seniors and it was just announced that Bloom’s mentor, Tom Brokaw, is delivering this year’s commencement address. The school also just received the former Weekend “Today” show set to be used in their own program in The David J. Bloom Broadcast Suite. Bloom was anchor of Weekend “Today.” He died in April, 2003 of deep vein thrombosis while on a reporting trip in Iraq.
