Backstage at ‘Today’ in Vancouver

USA Today explores behind the scenes at the NBC “Today” show, where strange schedules, weird weather, and an overwhelming number of activities have kept things interesting for everyone. The Pacific timezone also presents a specific challenge:

Neither hosts Lauer, Vieira, Curry, Morales or Al Roker, nor executive producer Jim Bell, knows who the guests will be until they wake up, because the show schedules athletes depending on Olympic performances from the day or night before.

“We’re missing a lot of the competitions at night because of our schedules,” Meredith Vieira says. “So we don’t know who won gold, silver or bronze, or who wiped out before the morning lineup.”
