20/20’s report tonight, “Babyland,” has garnered positive reviews for its “chilling” story of a county in Memphis where babies are dying at an alarming rate. Elizabeth Vargas reports for the program.
The New York Daily News’ David Hinckley gives the program four out of five stars, writing, “If you’re looking for a TV image that will haunt you for a good long time, you won’t have to look much further than a dozen pine boxes, not much bigger than shoeboxes.”
Neil Genzlinger writes in the New York Times about the scope of the reporting. “Rather than dwell on these familiar and polarizing debates, the program commendably focuses on grass-roots efforts to address the problem,” he writes.
