Austin Restaurant Becomes ‘CNN Grill’ for SXSW

By Merrill Knox

CNN has been covering SXSW this weekend from the “CNN Grill,” which has taken over Max’s Wine Dive in downtown Austin for the second year running.

Both the Saturday and Sunday broadcasts of “Your Money” with Ali Velshi have been live from the CNN Grill. Soledad O’Brien also hosted Friday’s “StartingPoint” from Austin.

In addition to two musical acts each night, CNN has hosted several panel discussions at the restaurant, including one with Texas governor and former GOP presidential candidate Rick Perry, who stopped in to talk with Peter Hamby. When Hamby asked him what he would do differently as a 2016 candidate, Perry said, “work on some debate skills, and always remember the third thing.”
