During what was a busy news month, Fox News Channel was the third most-watched cable channel, behind only ESPN and USA in primtime. The network saw year-over-year growth of +15% in viewers and +27% in the demo.

The ratings for August 2014 (Nielsen Live + Same Day data):

  • Total Day Mon-Sun): 1,056,000 total viewers / 224,000 A25-54

Fox News also experienced total day growth: up +9% in viewers and up +17% in the demo. Several daytime shows hit new highs including “Outnumbered” which had its best month ever, since its April launch, in both total viewers and the demo. It’s up nearly +25% in viewers and up +30% in the key demo vs. the NoonET time period last year. “America’s Newsroom” notched a 2014 demo high.

In primetime, “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren” had its third best month of 2014, “The O’Reilly Factor” had its best demo month of the year. While “The Kelly File” and “Hannity” each had their best demo performances since the primetime shake-up last fall. For the sixth straight month, Fox News claimed the top 14 programs on cable news. Last August was a downer across the cable news dial, including on Fox News which experienced its lowest demo since 2001.
