Ashleigh Banfield, who left HLN following its programming shakeup last October, will be returning to cable next month.
A&E has tapped Banfield to host Live Rescue, a spinoff of the network’s hit series Live PD. The new show, which debuts Monday, April 22 at 9 p.m. ET, will follow first responders around the country as they respond to emergency rescue calls.
The network has ordered eight episodes of the spinoff, which chronicles “the brave paramedics and first responders who risk their lives every day to keep us safe despite the challenges of their jobs,” said Elaine Frontain Bryant, evp and head of programming for A&E, in a statement.
Banfield, who most recently anchored Crime & Justice with Ashleigh Banfield on HLN, has been a fixture on TV since 2000, anchoring on MSNBC, NBC News, CourtTV, ABC News and as anchor of CNN’s now-defunct midday program Legal View.
Live PD, which features a live look at police forces on patrol across the country and in-studio analysis, is the No. 1 non-sports cable show on Friday and Saturday nights in the adults 25-54 and 18-49 demos.
