Apprentice No More, Rebecca Jarvis Covers the Financial Storm

By Chris Ariens

Today CNBC correspondent Rebecca Jarvis is reporting from the Mall of America. She and her CNBC colleagues Margaret Brennan and Jane Wells, will be posted at malls across the nation for a day-long series of reports on holiday shopping in this down economy.

Just a few years ago, Jarvis couldn’t have imagined she’d be working for CNBC. Before joining the network in 2006, she was a financial journalist in Chicago. Before that, she was runner-up on Season 4 of “The Apprentice.” The NY Daily News caught up with Jarvis who remains optimistic despite the ailing economy and job cuts that are even affecting her own company.

“I think it gets to everybody. It’s a matter of perspective,” she tells Richard Huff. “For me, individually, it’s looking at small examples of things, things that are still operating, like my family got together for Thanksgiving.”
