Ann Curry to Leave NBC News

By Chris Ariens

CURRY-articleLarge1Two and a half years after she was replaced on the “Today” show, NBC’s Ann Curry is leaving NBC News, the New York Post reports.

Page Six says Curry “will soon announce she is setting up her own production company to provide news reports and documentaries to numerous outlets, including NBC.”

Since her tearful “Today” goodbye in June, 2012, Curry has produced stories for her own production unit inside NBC News, but her reports have been few and far between. The last report we could find, of Curry reporting from Pakistan, aired on Nov. 30. She has also filled in for Brian Williams on “Nightly News” on occasion. Our calls to NBC News for comment were not returned.

Update: A senior NBC News executive confirmed Curry is departing the network. It’s unclear of the timing, but we hear she will be walking with a substantial amount of money. The Post reports Curry had been earning upwards of $12 million per year.
