Ann Curry Says Tina Fey’s New Film ‘Hit a Nerve’

At a weekend screening of Tina Fey‘s new film Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, longtime NBC News anchor Ann Curry said “the movie did hit a nerve for me.”

“And I’m not alone,” Curry told The Hollywood Reporter. “I just talked to another woman who spent some time in Afghanistan and for both of us, it reminded us of that addiction to wanting to be part of the action, wanting to make sure the story is told, and wanting to make sure we got the voice of people who were suffering expressed to the world.”

Curry attended the screening along with several of the most visible women in news, including Diane Sawyer, Norah O’Donnell, Barbara Walters, Soledad O’Brien and Lesley Stahl.

Sawyer said she was struck by Fey, who plays a producer who heads to Afghanistan to cover the war. Sawyer said Fey was a “wonderful combination of heart and head…I thought she was astonishing.”
