Anderson Cooper has apologized for a crude comment he made on his show last night.
Discussing CNN analyst Jeffrey Lord‘s defense of just about anything Donald Trump says or does, Cooper said, “If he took a dump on his desk, you would defend him.” That got some laughter from the other panelists as Cooper tried to explain it away: “Dumping documents is what I was talking about.” But the damage was done. Cooper apologized and sent this tweet later.

I regret the crude sentence i spoke earlier tonight and followed it up by apologizing on air. It was unprofessional. I am genuinely sorry.
