Anderson Cooper spent the first 8 minutes of his show tonight reading the names and short biographies of 48 of the 49 victims of the massacre in Orlando. Often getting choked up and pausing, Cooper said, “We think it is important you hear their names.”
“There’s one name you will not hear in the broadcast, one picture of a person you won’t see. We will not say the gunman’s name or show his photograph, it has been shown far too much already,” said Cooper, keeping to his practice of not naming mass murderers on his show.

As we reported earlier today, Megyn Kelly, who has a similar policy, has chosen to use Omar Mateen‘s name in her reporting.
