‘Anchorman 2’ Gets Green-Light

By Alex Weprin

Brace yourselves America, because “Anchorman 2” is coming to theaters.

Actor Will Ferrell–who created and starred in the 2004 film as self-obsessed San Diego local news anchor Ron Burgundy–made the announcement just under an hour ago during a taping of the TBS program “Conan.”

An audience member in attendance tells TVNewser that Ferrell was in character as Burgundy, and said that he and Paramount had struck a deal earlier today. No word on what the plot will be, but the original film ended with Burgundy and Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) as national network co-anchors.
